The people behind Saltrock

James French

Founder & CEO

James brings more than 20 years of senior finance and treasury experience in West and Central Africa, spanning commercial banking, government advisory, and bank governance. At Citi, he held Treasurer and Corporate Finance Head roles. He also served as a Senior Advisor with the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Technical Assistance. Through the IFC, he was appointed an independent non-executive director of Africa’s largest microfinance bank.

John Elder, PhD

Co-Founder & CTO

John brings more than 40 years of experience in applied data science, with deep expertise in AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics. He founded Elder Research, which became a leading data science and machine-learning consultancy before its acquisition by ManTech, a Carlyle Group company. A pioneer in ensemble methods, he has developed data-mining tools and co-authored three books on the field.
